QbD Group is a pan-European life sciences consultancy with 600+ experts across 8+ countries. We help pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies navigate regulatory complexity, bring better products to patients, and build more resilient quality systems. As we continue to grow, organically and through acquisition, we're strengthening our Finance team with a Senior Business Controller who brings both analytical depth and a genuine appetite for partnership.
💡 What’s in it for you?
Make a real impact: You'll sit at the intersection of finance and strategy, partnering directly with division heads, shaping the budget process, and embedding AI into our closing routines. Your numbers will feed real decisions, not just slide decks.
Grow with us: You'll work alongside a seasoned CFO and a junior business controller, who will guide you and give you structured ownership of your own divisional portfolio from day one. Complex, cross-border projects are the norm here.
Own something meaningful: From managing the monthly close and forecasting cycle to leading budget processes and integrating our tool landscape, this is a role with real scope, not a support function.
A competitive package: We offer a tailored salary and benefits package aligned with your profile and local regulations.
🏢 What you’ll be doing
Business partnering & divisional ownership
Act as the primary financial business partner for a defined set of divisions within QbD Group, building close working relationships with division heads.
Proactively reach out to the business: understanding operational realities, flagging risks, and translating financial performance into clear, actionable insights.
Understanding the business models within the different divisions and proactively bring forward deviations from budgets, targets, expected margins, ... so that division heads can act upon.
Support and challenge business cases, investment decisions, and pricing strategies with a sharp financial lens.
Closing, reporting & forecasting
Contribute to the monthly closing and reporting cycle together with the broader Finance team.
Own and manage the sales backlog and rolling forecasts for your divisional portfolio.
Lead variance analysis and translate financial results into clear narratives for management.
Project financial control
Take ownership of complex projects from the point of creation—ensuring solid financial structuring from day one.
Review and where necessary correct existing complex projects, bringing financial discipline and consistency.
Be the go-to financial sparring partner on project-level profitability and margin management.
Budget process & strategic planning
Lead and coordinate the annual budget process across your divisions—from kick-off through to consolidated output.
Build and manage strategic business plans in close collaboration with business leaders and the CFO.
Support long-term financial modelling and scenario planning as QbD continues to grow.
Systems integration & process improvement
Act as a key integrator across our finance tool landscape: NetSuite (ERP), HubSpot (CRM), Rydoo (expense management), and Perk. Ensuring data flows coherently between systems.
Drive the practical implementation of AI in our closing process as part of our 'Faster Closing' initiative, with the support of our digitalisation lead.
Contribute to ad hoc projects including the financial integration of new acquisitions and broader finance transformation initiatives.
đź’Ş What you bring
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in business controlling, financial planning & analysis, or a similar role, ideally in an international or matrix environment.
A solid track record in monthly closing, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to distil complex financial data into clear, decision-ready insights.
Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite is a strong plus) and comfort navigating multiple interconnected tools.
A commercial instinct: you understand the link between sales backlog, project financials, and P&L outcomes.
Excellent communication skills in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable switching between strategic planning and operational detail.
