🏢 What you’ll be doing

IFUcare is a SaaS platform that delivers electronic Instructions for Use (eIFU) for medical devices - a regulated, high-stakes domain where what you ship genuinely matters. The platform runs on AWS, serves customers across multiple countries, and is actively evolving.

Initially, you'll own the entire backend across a newly to be developed platform: the APIs, the data layer and the integrations that keep the business running, and the evolution of the architecture as the platform grows. In the long run, you'll work alongside a frontend and backend developer and collaborate with a DevOps team and external customer teams.

Frontend – Good-to-have:

• React 18+ / Next.js 15

• Tailwind CSS + Styled Components

💪 What you bring

• 6–7+ years of backend experience, ideally in a SaaS product

• Your Java / Spring Boot experience: it is your primary tool, you know it deeply, not just casually

• Solid experience designing and consuming REST APIs, and working with relational databases (MySQL or similar)

• Code quality is your priority and you find tests as important as the production code itself.

• Comfortable owning a new codebase, contributing to an existing one and making architectural decisions

• Familiar with AWS, CI/CD and containerized environments (Docker, Jenkins)

• You actively use AI coding assistance (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor…) and it has genuinely changed how you work. You use AI as a coding helper but you still design the architecture and review anything the AI generates. You're well aware of AI hallucinations and know the importance of not only having 'code that works', but a high-quality and performant one.

• Strong English: this is mainly a remote role and async communication is everything. However, we would like to meet our local team on a regular basis at one of our QbD offices in Belgium or in Spain.

• You don't panic when you inherit legacy code; you figure it out

• Experience in regulated industries or with EU MDR / eIFU is a genuine bonus, but absolutely not required. We have regulatory experts in-house who will support you on the compliance side.
